We were advised today that a member of our community has tested positive for COVID-19 and they are now self-isolating. Abbey Hill Academy remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.
NHS Test and Trace may be in contact with children who have been identified as a close contact and provide further advice. You will be informed of what steps you need to take if this applies to you.
The government advice remains the same that students should test twice per week using the lateral flow tests. Should you require any further test kits you can contact the school and further advice will be provided.
Detailed below is the Government’s guidance offered to parents and carers in relation to what to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19
Get a PCR test as soon as possible if you have any of these 3 symptoms of COVID-19, even if they are mild:
a high temperature
a new, continuous cough
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
If you are identified as a close contact with a positive case, you are advised to take a PCR test. Testing can be arranged by calling 119 or via the NHS website: nhs.uk/coronavirus
How to stop COVID-19 spreading
There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with COVID-19:
wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
wash your hands as soon as you get home cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards Further information Further information is available at nhs.uk/coronavirus Please also contact the tutor team in the first instance, if you have any concerns or queries.
