At Abbey Hill Academy we are extremely proud of our strong and robust Pastoral system. We treat each of our students as individuals and know that the power of relationships are key.
We have trained Attachment leads within school who fully understand and demonstrate the Attachment Aware and Trauma (AATI) informed approach and lead ongoing training and support for staff as part of our journey to becoming an Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed school.
We try to place more of an emphasis on having a relational approach to student behaviour, rather than a behaviouralist reward and sanction focussed one. Staff at Abbey Hill are aware that many of the behaviours we see in school is a form of communication from the student to the adult that they are unhappy with something and it is our job to work out what this behaviour is trying to tell us and why.
